High School Sweethearts. Rutger’s University Grads. Classic. Traditional. Romantic elegance.

Jason and Charlene had me convinced of their mutual passion towards one another since day one. They’re high school sweethearts, and if you’re looking for the real deal this is it. Jason and Charlene are born and raised in the same hometown in New Jersey, but they didn’t meet until the senior year Homecoming dance when Jason “came out of nowhere and asked me to dance” - Charlene. The rest was history! They started a relationship a few months later and continued throughout their undergraduate years at Rutgers University. Jason later went to Atlanta for his Master’s and is a consultant, and she does Christian ministry work.

They incorporated their faith into their wedding day by inviting their pastor to marry them and by offering prayer before dinner. They’re both first-generation Americans with both sets of parents immigrating from the Philippines, and they also incorporated cultural traditions such as the ceremony tradition with cords and coins and the money dance. Their father’s wedding day speeches brought tears to everyone’s eyes, where they spoke of imagining a better life for their children, and then, seeing them sucessful in work and in love made it all worth the risk to them. As a Midwest girl, I appreciate the strong cohesion Jason and Charlene have with their families and it was a joy to witness all day long… the smiles, the laughs, and the happy tears were flowing. This was especially true during the memorial dances for their relatives that had since passed on. Jason + Charlene managed to create a special day that is uniquely them.

There’s more details! Charlene’s traditional a-line lace dress exuded tradition, elegance, and romance. She got ready at the beautiful Palace at Somerset, NJ. After getting ready, J+C had their intimate first look on the balcony which made for a timeless setting complete with grey columns, sunshine, and a bit of snow from the night before. They were troopers in the cold. We continued to create portraits indoors on the grand staircase with an elegant chandelier backdrop, and again outside dancing on the Grand Foyer. We snuck away again for some lovely nighttime portraits too, where Jason and Charlene enjoyed more laughs outside by the fireplace.

Congratulations are in order to this passionate and fun-loving couple! May your laughter always be heard from miles away and may you feel your love grow stronger over the many years to come!

Warmly,

The Olker Wedding Photo Team
